Sarah worked at Portfields Primary School as Artist in Residence and she worked on a collaborative mosaic project with all 720 children at the school, creating a new and vibrant welcome sign.

In 2018 Sarah was invited to become Artist in Residence at Portfields Primary School in Newport Pagnell. The headteacher, Sarah Folkard wanted to create a vibrant and welcoming mosaic that could be made with all the children in attendance at the school. Sarah Harper created a design that allowed children to have their own creative input. Working with 27 classes over 8 weeks the mosaic was made.

‘‘Working with the children at this school was an absolute pleasure they were all so enthusiastic and excited about the project and it was lovely to be able to give every child the opportunity to contribute to a piece of public art for the school. At the unveiling event, hearing children proudly telling their parents what part of the mosaic they did made me feel very privileged and extremely proud"

Sarah was an artist in residence over 8 weeks. iN this time she worked with every single child and staff member to create our Portfields Mosaic. Staring in my headship role I wanted the whole school to be part of a project that could displayed proudly outside the school. Sarah was kind, inspirational and patient - the children absolutely loved making the mosaic
