The story
Sarah was invited to the school to look at the idea of creating some exciting mosaic artwork that could be displayed at a point around the outside reception area. After taking a look at the site and discussing ideas with the leadership team, Sarah suggested a couple of options. One being to create a mosaic tree that would wrap around the reception area. This idea was warmly welcomed and the project began.
Sarah worked with the school to launch a design competition, all children were set an art lesson to create an illustration of their class animal. The designs were incredible, they were all judged by Sarah, being first narrowed down to a top three for each class and then the final designs selected, they were then used within the tree design.
Once a pattern was created for the tree, it was fitted and then cut from marine plywood. The design was then transferred and the Sarah moved to the school to be based there for a month whilst every child and member of staff got involved with creating the mosaic tree.
