This project, started in 2024 and will run until April 2025.
Working in partnership with The Blue Light Hub. Sarah is working with Buckinghamshire Fire, Thames Valley Police and SCAS, on a community project that will be supported by MAKE.
MAKE will use this project as a case study in a Toolkit of Cultural Diversity resources. It will provide inspiration and guidance for schools wanting to collaborate with MK based creatives.
Sarah is working with three primary schools on the project and run some workshops for members of Harrys Rainbow, ( a Milton Keynes charity).
This project has been kindly funded by Milton Keynes Community Foundation, Buckinghamshire Fire Service and Thames Valley Police.
Each school was visited by one of the three emergency services where all children got to meet with the service workers, getting to ask plenty of questions and learn vital information about the roles of Firefighters, Police Officers and Paramedics. Children also got to experience the vehicles and see and demo lots of kit, which was a high light of the visits as well as being able to go inside the vehicle. During these site visits children were encouraged to take photos with the class iPads that could be used to support their illustrations, as all children were asked to submit a illustration for a design competition, each school was supported with having a visiting illustration Artist and Sarah in school for the day making their way around each class.
Langland Community School - A visit from SCAS
The children at Langland Community School had a visit from SCAS, and then a week later Jess Bolam, ( an illustration Artist). The amazing artwork was shortlisted by Sarah and then taken to The Blue Light Hub for voting by the service workers.
Charles Warren Academy - A visit from Thames Valley Police
Charles Warren Academy had a visit from Thames Valley Police and then a week later they had Maria Christina visit for the day where each class had an illustration workshop.
