This mosaic mural created in living memory of Grayson, a much-loved little boy who brought joy and laughter to those that knew him. This mosaic was made in collaboration with all Year 4 children, who worked together to build a joyful piece of artwork that was reflective of Grayson’s favourite things and character. Children worked on worksheets at the start of the week where they had the chance to colour in a superhero logo with Graysons initial, to share their ideas with me as well designing a sunflower and picking a word to describe their friend, all being used within the mural. The work sheets also allowed each child a space to write a few words or sentences to reflect on the part of the mosaic they made or how they felt, each child kept their worksheet. Graysons little sister also helped to make our mosaic, creating her own gorgeous sunflower, butterfly and hand painting the ceramic G in the mural.

The mosaic was part of a celebration assembly with the whole school and Grayson family. It has now been installed in the school playground above a new bench, creating a place that children and staff can go to reflect and think about Grayson.
